When my high school teacher allowed me to create an art piece for my final geometry project, I finally understood the link between math and art. Soft curves and hard angles, found in nature and echoed in human-made things, catch my eye and imagination. After teaching in other disciplines and helping launch three amazing women into adulthood, my dream of an art studio became a reality. With the support of my husband and encouragement from my first pottery teacher, my mom, and wonderful clay conspirators, I am now joyfully getting dirty in my studio among the vines.

Hands in clay is such a meditative process! As I sink my fingers into the fresh clay, I join in a creative conversation, a negotiation, and a journey in which I’m always excited to see my intentions reflected in the final outcome. I let the clay talk to me, let it and my ideas meld into something new. Working with clay is a complex process, without instant gratification. That part of the process is difficult if you don’t have a deep willingness and desire to learn. Clay continually teaches patience, gives permission to play and be silly, and releases perfectionistic tendencies.
I love having other artists in the studio as we inspire and learn from each other. Appointments are by schedule; there are no set classes.
